Ladies and Gentlemen,
Happy Environment Day (5 june )
My name is Kamal Singh, and I come from the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, India. Today, on Environment Day, I want to talk about a big problem that affects all of us. In our area, temperatures often go above 47 degrees Celsius, and sometimes even more than 50 degrees. This extreme heat gets worse because we don’t have enough trees. Trees help keep the temperature down and keep our water sources from drying up. Without enough trees, our water is going deeper underground, making it harder to reach. We must understand how important trees and water are. We should stop wasting water and cutting down trees. Instead, we should plant more trees and save water to make sure our future is better.
For the past three years, I have worked for an NGO without any salary, and we have planted more than 51,000 trees. This has helped not only to fight the harsh climate of our region but also to make people aware of how important it is to plant trees. Beyond my work with the NGO, I continue to plant trees on special occasions and encourage others to give plants as gifts instead of expensive presents at weddings and birthdays. This simple act can make a big difference to our environment.
Every day, I take care of more than 200 trees in my temple garden and at my home, making sure they grow well and give us the shade and oxygen we need. I urge each of you to do the same in your lives. By planting trees, saving water, and making eco-friendly choices, we can all help create a healthy and sustainable environment. Remember, the actions we take today will shape the quality of life for future generations. Let us work together to protect and preserve our planet.
Thank you.
